NSPO Expands to Year-Round Performances

The Northshore Philharmonic Orchestra is thrilled to announce an exciting expansion: for the first time in our history, we’re performing beyond the summer season! Many of our members have asked about the possibility of making music together year-round, and we’re delighted to make that a reality this fall.

These November concerts represent a new collaboration with students from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and The College of St. Scholastica. For the first time, string players from the Northshore Philharmonic Orchestra will join these talented students in performance, strengthening the musical connections across our region.

Our program features a rich selection of baroque and contemporary works:

  • Carl Nielsen’s Little Suite — charming and lyrical
  • Felix Mendelssohn’s Sinfonia in D Minor — youthful brilliance and energy
  • J. S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 — one of Bach’s most celebrated works
  • John Rutter’s Suite Antique — elegant and timeless
  • Miss Drummond of Perth’s Favorite Scots Measure (Traditional) — a lively Scottish dance

We’re honored to feature outstanding soloists from both universities: Melanie Sever (flute), Alexander Sandor (harpsichord), and J. David Arnott (violin) from UWS faculty, along with Jessica Schroeder (harpsichord) from CSS faculty.
